H2Overdrive and Hydro Thunder courses, racing in your browser, from your own game files.

Riptide ships with no game content: you need your own copies. It reads exactly two things: H2Overdrive's triton.lux (required) and, optionally, your Hydro Thunder Dreamcast disc as a GDI dump. Open the panels below to check you have the right ones.

1. H2Overdrive: triton.lux (required)

In the arcade game's install folder, about 3.1 GB.

H2Overdrive is Raw Thrills' 2009 arcade boat racer. The cabinet runs Windows, and the whole game (models, textures, tracks, sounds, settings) is packed into one file: triton.lux.

A different checksum means a different release or revision: it may still work, but it isn't tested.

2. Hydro Thunder: disc.gdi + all its track*.bin (optional)

Select the .gdi and every track file together (Ctrl+A in the folder).

Hydro Thunder (Midway, 1999) on the Sega Dreamcast, backed up as a GDI dump: one small .gdi text file that lists the disc's tracks, plus one .bin file per track. Pick all 38 files together.

.cdi, .chd and .iso images don't work as they are. Convert a .chd with MAME's tool: chdman extractcd -i "Hydro Thunder (USA).chd" -o disc.gdi

Without Hydro Thunder, Riptide still runs with all the H2Overdrive courses and boats.

How do I check a checksum?

A checksum is a file's fingerprint: if yours matches the table above, you have the same file.

🏁 Race your friends online

On the course select screen press O for online races (up to 8 players):

H	Host a room on the selected course. You get a 4-letter code: send it to your friends.
J	Join a friend's room: type their code.
N	Change your racer name.
Enter	Host only: start the race. The countdown begins once everyone has loaded the course.

Everyone picks their own boat. Every racer needs their own copy of the game files, and a Hydro Thunder course needs the disc too. Cheats are switched off in online races.

Your files never leave your computer: the game reads only the parts it needs, straight from your disk. Nothing is uploaded. Needs a browser with WebGPU (current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari).
